1984 AC Mk IV / THE COBRA WITHOUT THE NAME
/The AC Mark IV - The looks of 427 Shelby Cobra but with updated engineering.
Only 480 of these rad beauties were popped out of the AC Autokraft facility located at historic Brooklands. Manufactured from 1982-1995 before succumbing to financial difficulties. Each of the authentic sports cars took over 900 hours to complete from start to finish.
To create the Mk IV body, all of the original 427 Cobra dyes, jigs, and wood bucks were used on the hand molded exterior. To add to that authenticity, many of the original panel beaters of the 427 Cobra were still employed by AutoKraft and worked on the Mk IV. It is that credible culmination of manufacturing that played a role in the Shelby American Registry deciding to recognize the Mk IV.
This car has been in the Shook family since 1985. My father was the first titled owner of the vehicle. Very low mileage and stored in the Corpus Christi Old Car Museum for all of its days.
The Mk IV is outfitted with a Boss Ford 302 cub inch 4.95 Litre V8 that was crafted to meet U.S. emissions regulations. With the latest developments in engineering at the time, the Mark IV boasts a larger cockpit while still maintaining the original exterior dimensions of the 427 Cobra.
